OverviewThis product has reached end-of-life and is no longer orderable. It is superceded by the next generation products.Serving as the system controller in a CompactPCI (cPCI) configuration, the Netra CP2140 system controller board provides exceptional levels of performance and reliability for network equipment providers, telecommunications companies, and others in embedded industrial environments. Built around a 650-MHz UltraSPARC IIi processor, 512 KB of cache, and up to 2 GB of memory, the Netra CP2140 board offers a rugged, high-performance form factor and high memory density. With support for PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group) standards such as high availability (HA) hot-swap functionality, the Netra CP2140 system controller allows for superior levels of reliability and availability. The Netra CP2140 board is integrated as the system controller in Netra CT 410 and 810 systems. The combination of the Netra CP2140 board as a host and the Netra cPCI 2160 board as a satellite with the Netra CT 410 and 810 servers provides a reliable, industry-standard, off-the-shelf platform for industrial applications. High PerformanceThe Netra CP2140 board features a 650-MHz UltraSPARC IIi processor with 512 KB of Level 2 cache and up to 4 GB of memory, making it ideal for high-performance, embedded, compute-dense applications. UltraSPARC technology delivers substantial data throughput while maintaining complete binary compatibility in an industry-standard package. The large memory capacity enables hosting of larger applications, supporting more users, accommodating spikes in demand, preserving data, and contributing to immediate and constant access to data.StandardsBased on cPCI (CompactPCI) standards from the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG), the Netra CP2140 board allows for maximum network flexibility and return on investment.Compliance with the cPCI standard provides a rugged, reliable, and serviceable solution easily customizable for rackmount satellite processing. It also enables use within any cPCI rack. PICMG compliance enables the use of industry-standard components, easy installation, and a high degree of customization and provides flexibility when deploying and integrating different solution architectures. The Netra CP2140 board complies with the following PICMG standards:
FlexibilityExtremely flexible and modular, the Netra CP2140 board allows for easy installation and configuration and can be easily integrated into telecommunications, service provider, industrial, and other embedded environments. For network flexibility and investment protection, a PCI mezzanine card (PMC) slot enables mixing and matching of third-party PMC products, allowing solutions to be tailored for specific application needs and expanding options for multiprotocol I/O interfaces. The integrated, dual-channel fast Ethernet assists in installation, maintenance, and service by faciliating network connectivity and enabling immediate deployment of services, helping increase network flexibility and availability. ReliabilityThe carrier-grade Netra CP2140 board offers NEBS Level 3 compliance, contributes to continuous operation in less-than-ideal conditions, such as earthquake Zone 4 environments, and complies with regulatory regulations for deployment in central telco office environments. NEBS Level 3 compliance also means that the robust and reliable Netra CP2140 board has passed tests showing that it can tolerate extremes of temperature and humidity, operate in environments where there is dust, pollutants, or other air contaminants, retard fire, and resist other electrical hazards.ManageabilityFeaturing system management based on industry-standard models and interfaces, the Netra CP2140 board helps to increase manageability and contribute to higher levels of availability while lowering total cost of ownership. The Netra CP2140 board offers a Sun Microcontroller Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) system for out-of-band communications, which provides for direct communication, advanced system management, and environmental monitoring. The Netra CP2140 board functions as the system controller card, enabling faster problem detection and resolution. Operating EnvironmentThe Netra CP2140 board runs the the Solaris 8 or 9 Operating System, which provides exceptional investment protection and can reduce support, maintenance, and training costs. The Solaris OS is a rock-solid, highly-scalable platform that offers 100% binary compatibility with previous versions of the Solaris OS and Solaris applications. You can develop applications on a commercial workstation or server and deploy them into the network infrastructure without modification.ProcessorProcessor: One 650-MHz UltraSPARC IIi processor Cache: Level 1: 32 KB Level 2: 512 KB MemoryExpandable memory: 1 GB of on-board memory (expandable to 4 GB) Flash memory: 1 MB on-board flash memory, 7 MB of user-programmable memory Bus InterfaceCompact PCI bus: PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group) 2.0 compliant, 33 MHz at 32/64 bits Connector: 2 mm pin and socket Memory read/write bandwidth: 500 MB/sec.
