Coffee points out that Sun, a member of the Globus Consortium, "has put forward considerable amounts of its own code for open-source grid development including the Sun Grid Engine." Commenting on grid use in the enterprise, Sun executive Bjorn Andersson says, "If you have what we might call a stateful application, such as a large database, that will run on one of the larger SMP systems; there are other applications that will be more embarrassingly parallel that will run well on a grid." Satyam/Sun Solution Center to Focus on 'Hot' Paradigms, Grid http://www.ciol.com/content/enterprise/2005/105041301.aspSatyam Computer Services Ltd. and Sun Microsystems India Pvt. Ltd. announced launch of the Satyam Customer Solution Center on Sun Technologies. This is the first such center in India that would focus on building, testing and delivering leading-edge solutions around hot technology paradigms. In case you missed it, this is a very interesting opinion article from
GridToday: "At the National High Performance Computing and Communications Conference held this past week in Newport, R.I., (www.hpcc-usa.org) "Grid" was definitely not a four letter word." |
