  • Open Gateways Program - A Vision For the 21st Century - Today
Bringing the Power of Network Computing to Primary and Secondary (K12) Schools For over 10 years now, Sun has been proclaiming that, The Network is the Computer. Through the Open Gateways Program, Sun is working to extend the power of network computing beyond boardrooms into classrooms.
We envision a school of the 21st century - Today. Schools in which students and teachers can access up-to-date curricula and reference materials, regardless of geography or budget. Schools in which teachers can share curriculum ideas and lesson plans electronically and school districts can centrally manage complex Wide Area Networks cost effectively and with ease. Most importantly, we envision a school in which students increasingly are able to utilize the network to become active learners and teachers are empowered with network-based tools that promote student centered instruction.
