"At the San Diego Supercompter Center, we work with a large range of scientists who are tackling some of the most computationally- and data-intensive problems in biology, physics, chemistry, and other key disciplines. Sun's prepackaged Opteron clusters allows these researchers to deploy, manage, and, more importantly, utilize personalized computing environments that complement the capabilities of unique resources found in centers. At SDSC, we've developed the Rocks Clustering Toolkit which enables this type of capability on high-performance commodity-based platforms, such as Sun's Opteron pre-configured offering. We're excited about this announcement because it shows just how far and how capable cluster-based computing has come in the last few years."
