OverviewThis product has reached end-of-life and is no longer orderable. It is superceded by the next generation products. Featuring six CompactPCI (cPCI) slots, the Netra CT 810 server delivers exceptional I/O density and offers a carrier-grade, NEBS Level 3-certified platform for delivering critical applications and services. In addition to establishing new levels of availability, serviceability, manageability, and performance, the Netra CT 810 server also features comprehensive system management that meets and often exceeds telecommunications requirements. Featuring a 650-MHz UltraSPARC IIi processor, up to 2 GB of memory, two 73-GB Ultra SCSI hard drives, an optical drive, and six cPCI slots--the Netra CT 810 server delivers maximum flexibility and configurability. Two Netra CT 810 servers, or one Netra CT 810 server and two Netra CT 410 servers, can fit in one Netra CT chassis, which in turn deploys into a standard 19-in. rack (with adapters for 23-in., 24-in., and 600 mm racks). The I/O density of the Netra CT 810 server, combined with the server density of the Netra CT 410 server in a Netra CT chassis, creates a flexible, modular platform suitable for a wide range of telecommunications applications. AvailabilityThe Netra CT 810 server offers outstanding levels of availability that contribute to continuous system operation and lower total cost of ownership. Features include PICMG-standard, HA-level, hot-swappable I/O slots, individually powered CompactPCI (cPCI) slots, NEBS Level 3 certification, and enhanced power and cooling. The hot-swappable I/O slots support the highest level of hot-swap functionality of the PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group) 2.1 Rev 2 standard, enabling the addition and replacement of I/O components without completely shutting down the system. Individually powered cPCI slots provide the ability to shut down individual I/O slots in the event of component failure and allow administrators to plan the activation of specific features or functionality while deploying the entire system. Featuring NEBS Level 3-certification, Netra CT 810 server enables continuous operation in earthquake Zone 4 environments and complies with regulatory regulations for deployment in telco central office environments. NEBS Level 3 certification also means that Netra CT 810 servers have passed tests showing that they can tolerate extremes of temperature and humidity, operate in environments where there is dust, pollutants, or other air contaminants, retard fire, and resist other electrical hazards. Enhanced power and cooling provide support for present and future processor boards that may have higher power consumption and I/O rates. ServiceabilityThe Netra CT 810 server is designed to be flexible, modular, and easily serviceable. Remote, electronic field replaceable unit (FRU) identification allows for remote inventory of major subsystems with active components. A front or rear cabling configuration reduces service time. A front LED panel communicates the status of all active FRU components. In addition, remote system control and Lights Out Management (LOM) enable remote monitoring and management from a single console.ManageabilitySystem management in the Netra CT 810 server has been desinged using industry-standard models and interfaces. In areas where deficiencies exist in the standards, Sun has incorporated additional features to enhance the standard while still adhering to the industry standard. The Netra CT 810 server features conformance to PICMG specifications 2.9 (IPMI system management) and 2.14 (IP messaging). An Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI), which provides a solid foundation for manageability and helps to lower total cost of ownership, allows for an industry-standard interface and methodology for system management. Utilizing IP as the message path for element management provides the speed and bandwidth necessary for efficient system management. The Netra CT 810 server also incorporates Processor Management Services (PMS) and element management with hierarchical object modeling. PMS manages the software services that are present in an independent processor but not necessarily in an I/O card and gives administrators the ability to manage a satellite processor as a full independent processor and to "see" services on that processor independently. Element management with hierarchical object modeling provides a detailed view of individually managed objects that can be integrated into a customized management framework, easing manageability and lowering total cost of ownership. High PerformanceThe Netra CT 810 server is a high performance system that features a 650-MHz UltraSPARC processor and up to 2 GB of maximum server. UltraSPARC technology enhances the processing power and compute density of the network, allowing you to offer higher levels of service and performance. The large memory capacity enables larger applications to be run from memory instead of from disk, leading to increased performance.StandardsProviding the flexibility to deploy and integrate different solution architectures, the Netra CT 810 server adheres to industry specifications such as:
To maximize data center and rack space, the industry-standard, rack-sized Netra CT chassis fits up to two Netra CT 810 servers or one Netra CT 810 server and two Netra CT 410 servers. ProcessorThe processor on the Netra CT 810 server is a 650-MHz UltraSPARC IIi processor featuring a superscalar SPARC V9 architecture with 512 KB of Level 2 cache. UltraSPARC IIi technology delivers impressive computing throughput in a highly-integrated package, with efficient power consumption to enable cost-effective system designs.Capacity
