The Netra CT 820 blade server is a highly-available platform that offers extensive features that can increase system availability and customer satisfaction while lowering total cost of ownership.
With PICMG-standard, HA-level, hot-swappable I/O slots, the Netra CT 820 blade server supports the highest level of hot-swap functionality of the PICMG (PCI Industrial Manufacturers Group) 2.1 Rev 2 standard. This enables the addition and replacement of blade servers. Hot-swapping has been incorporated into the fans, switches, system management cards, and power supplies, to enable servicing without completely shutting down the system.
Individually-powered cPSB slots provide the ability to shut down individual I/O slots in the event of component failure as well as allow for the activation of specific features or functionality while deploying the entire system.
NEBS (Network Equipment Building Standard) Level 3 certification means that the Netra CT 820 blade server can provide system availability even through Zone 4 earthquakes and extreme levels of temperature, humidity, air contamination, and electromagnetic frequency radiation.
Enhanced power and cooling provide support for present and future processor boards which may have higher power consumption and I/O rates.
The Netra CT 820 blade server has several features that can increase serviceability and ease maintenance. Front-accessible field replaceable units (FRUs) include remote, electronic identification that enables remote inventory of major subsystems and active components.
Cabling is rear accessibility only (although all active FRU are front accessible) to allow for easier system serviceability.
Remote system control and Lights Out Management (LOM) enable system administrators to remotely monitor and manage the Netra CT 820 blade server.
To ensure continuous uptime, Telecom operators use sophisticated software for the Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OA&M) of their networks.
The Netra CT 820 blade server can help greatly reduce the cost and time to develop this software and simplifies its own administration and maintenance by providing comprehensive management and high availability middleware in the industry. The Netra CT 820 blade server delivers features designed to simplify manageability, conform to industry standards, and support OEM business practices.
The Netra CT 820 blade server conforms to PICMG 2.9 IPMI system management specifications. IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) system management provides an industry-standard interface and methodology for system management. The Netra CT 820 blade server also provides element management using a TMN (Telecom Management Network) compatible, hierarchical object model to represent all components as well as Processor Management Services (PMS) to enable full management of processors and software. In addition, the Netra CT 820 blade server provides a full range of cluster and failover services.
To provide flexibility in deploying and integrating different solution architectures, the Netra CT 820 server conforms to the following industry specifications:
