The Netra T2000 server is Sun's first Netra server to incorporate the UltraSPARC T1 processor with CoolThreads technology. This 8-core processor delivers up to 32 simultaneous execution threads. It's ideal for meeting the increasing demands of the network infrastructure. Plus, its extreme compute density -- 32 threads in 2 square inches -- saves lots of rack and floor space.

The Netra T2000 server comes with 16 memory slots that support up to 64 GB of power-saving DDR2 SDRAM memory for enormous workload and growth potential, without the heat. Four 10/100/1000-Mbps Ethernet ports give you get exceptional I/O performance, flexibility, efficiency, reliability, and availability. Four PCI clots (1 PCIe slot for low profile cards and 3 PCI-X slots: 3xfull-height, 2xfull-length, 1xhalf-length)

The Netra T2000 was designed to save time with features like front and back LEDs, front-accessible, hot-pluggable drives, redundant hot-swappable DC and AC power supplies, and support for harcware raid (0+1). You also get Sun's popular Advanced Lights Out Manager (ALOM) for administration and recovery, remote monitoring, and diagnosis.

Solaris 10 Operating System

The Netra T2000 servers come with the Solaris 10 Operating System, which provides an efficient and secure application environment, further increasing performance and utilization. The Solaris 10 OS multithreaded design takes full advantage of the Netra T2000 server’s CMT architecture, boosting throughput and efficiency. Solaris Containers run multiple applications providing up to five times the industry-standard utilization. The Solaris 10 OS protects against both malicious external attacks and data access violations from the inside. The Process Rights Management component provides fine-grained control over the rights given to users and processes.

UltraSPARC T1 processor-based systems provide full binary compatibility, which makes it easy for customers to run and move their applications across UltraSPARC/Solaris 10 OS-based servers. In addition, the Netra T2000 server supports full-height and full-length PCI-X cards to accommodate legacy telecommunication cards.
