Randy was also impressed with the Sun Ray 270 thin clients he tested, praising both their aesthetic appeal and the smartcard reader, which can be used for two-factor authentication. Overall Randy concluded that "Sun VDI impresses."

    This positive review by Paul Venezia gave the Sun Ray 2 and Sun Ray 2FS a 7.9, or a "Good" rating. Venezia felt this version of Sun Ray is "much more stable and much, much thinner" than previous versions and praised the product's Hot Desking feature, simple firmware and software ease-of-installation capabilities. He concluded, "If delivering a secure, manageable Solaris or Windows desktop is the goal, the new Sun Ray solution is worth a look."
