Sun Datacenter InfiniBand Switch 648

The Sun Datacenter InfiniBand Switch 648 reduces the cost and complexity of large-scale HPC solutions. This high-density, Quad Data Rate (QDR) IB core switch offers unrivaled capacity for up to 648 servers and storage systems. And it replaces up to 152 discrete switching elements and thousands of cables in large-scale solutions, all while delivering extremely low latency and breakthrough economics.

At a Glance

  • High-density Quad Data Rate (QDR) standards-based, fully non-blocking InfiniBand core switch
  • Joins the Sun Blade 6048 IB QDR Switched Network Express Module (NEM) and Sun's QDR Host Channel Adapters (HCAs) in Sun’s third-generation family of InfiniBand products
  • Eliminates the switch sprawl and datacenter cabling complexities endemic to alternative Clos fabric offereings
  • Seamlessy integrates with the Sun Blade 6048 InfiniBand QDR Switched Network Express Module, scaling up to over 5,000 end nodes
  • 41 Tb/s of bisection bandwidth, extremely low latency
  • Consumes less than 6.5 kW under a fully populated load
  • Advanced, efficient cable routing to floor or ceiling
  • An integral part of the end-to-end QDR HPC solution, the Sun Constellation System
  • Hardware support for InfiniBand adaptive routing and congestion control
