The Sun Fast Ethernet + SCSI 3U CompactPCI adapter is designed to deliver all the functionality of FastEthernet and SCSI in the smaller, more flexible form factor of CompactPCI (cPCI). cPCI provides hot swap, more slots than standard PCI to allow for expansion, thermal advantages, and mechanical robustness. The Sun Fast Ethernet +SCSI 3U CompactPCI Adapter combines one 10/100 Mbps auto-negotiating ports and one fast-wide SCSI port in one card.
cPCI technology provides the capability to dynamically configure the computer without powering it down. This allows boards to be added, replaced, or upgraded while the machine is in operation. This hot swap capability also provides a platform for high availability solutions by maximizing uptime. Another benefit is that there is a low impact on cost. cPCI technology also enables forward and backward compatibility to standard cPCI boards and systems.
