The Sun FastEthernet adapter 2.0 is a single-wide SBus card. It supports transmission speeds of 10 or 100 Mbps over various wiring schemes through either an on-board transceiver or external transceiver. The adapter features an on-board 100Base-TX transceiver which supports direct connection to Category 5 UTP wiring. The adapter also supports the media independent interface (MII), which allows connection to external FastEthernet transceivers to run over other wiring types (such as, Category 3UTP, Optical Fiber). Deployment of the Sun fastethernet Adapter offers customers higher performance and investment protection at a minimal cost.
