RED FLAGS !

The EAR has identified certain circumstances or "red flags" that indicate
when an inappropriate end use, end user, or destination may be involved. If Sun
partners discover any of the following red flags, you are required to halt the
transaction and contact Sun's International Trade Services Department at export@sun.com.


    The customer or its address is similar to one of the parties found on the Commerce Department's list of denied persons.

    Customer is small and little known. Financial information unavailable from normal commercial sources and corporate principals unknown by trade sources.

    Customer does not wish to utilize commonly available installation and maintenance services.

    Customer is reluctant to provide end-use/end-user information.

    Customer requests unusual payment terms or currencies.

    Order amounts, packaging, or delivery routing do not correspond with normal industry practice.

    Performance/design characteristics of commodity ordered is incompatible with customer's line of business or stated end-use.

    Customer uses only ``P.O. Box'' address or has facilities that appear inappropriate for the commodity(ies) ordered.

    Customer's order is for parts known to be inappropriate, or for which the customer appears to have no legitimate need (e.g. there is no indication of prior authorised shipment of system for which the parts are sought).

    Customer is known to have, or is suspected of having, unauthorised dealings with parties and/or destinations on the Proscribed/Embargoed countries list.
    Restricted/Embargoed countries.

    Instructions to make direct shipments to trading companies, freight forwarders, export companies or companies with no apparent connection to the purchaser.

    Packing requirements inconsistent with shipping mode and/or destination.

    Circuitous or economically illogical routing.

    Customer appears unfamiliar with the product or application.
