No Longer Available
This server has reached end-of-life and is no longer orderable. It is superceded by the next generation Sun Fire 4800 Midframe server. By bringing mainframe-like features to the midrange server arena, the Sun Fire Midframe servers are designed to be available when your end-users need them, to adapt to changing application requirements, simply integrate into your environment and deliver a solid return on your IT investment.

About the Sun Enterprise 5500 Server
With its integrated rack-mounted storage, the 14-processor Sun Enterprise 5500 server packs more internal capacity into a space-saving design to maximize space in data center environments. The balanced system design is built around Sun's high-performance Gigaplane technology and delivers tremendous throughput for compute- and I/O-intensive databases, decision support and business applications. The Sun Enterprise 5500 server increases system availability through its resilient design, Dynamic Reconfiguration and Alternate Pathing, system recovery, and proactive hardware failure prediction. System management is simplified by Sun Management Center software's easy-to-use interface and management controls.
