The Sun Fire B1600 Blade System Chassis has been retired and is no longer orderable.

The Sun Fire B1600 Blade System Chassis is a 16 slot, 3U chassis that supports up to two integrated Gigabit Ethernet switches, up to two System Controllers, and two power supply units. This Intelligent shelf delivers customers high reliability and five times the server density of typical one processor 1U servers. Designed for throughput computing, the horizontally-scalable Sun Fire B1600 Blade Platform lets you accommodate growth, utilize computing resources more efficiently, reduce time-to-market by shortening deployment cycles, increase service availability, and lower operational costs.

  • Each chassis has 16 ports to and from internal blades, 8 copper Gigabit Ethernet ports to and from an external network or other shelves, and a 10-GB internal switch fabric
