x64 = 64-bit x86 architecture, which includes AMD Opteron 64-bit architecture and Intel EM64T architecture, both of which are 32-bit backward compatible with 32-bit x86 architectures, and also support new 64-bit x86. This does not include Intel's Itanium IA-64.
