System Management Services (SMS) 1.6 for Solaris 9 and 10 Operating Systems
Sun Fire E25K/E20K/15K/12K System Management Services (SMS) 1.6 is the newest version of system management software for use on Sun Fire
E25K/E20K/15K/12K System Controllers (SCs) to manage Sun Fire high-end systems. SMS 1.6 enables support for new hardware and software features on Sun Fire E25K/E20K/15K/12K servers.
Sun Fire E25K/E20K/15K/12K SMS 1.6 mandates the following conditions:
System Controllers
System Controllers must have as the minimum Operating System: Solaris 9 4/04 or Solaris 10 1/06 with required patches.
Domains Domains running on UltraSPARC IV must have as the minimum Operating System: Solaris 8 2/02, Solaris 9 4/04, Solaris 10 3/05 HW1, or Solaris 10 1/06 or higher, with required patches. Domains running on UltraSPARC IV+ must have as the minimum Operating System: Solaris 9 9/05 , Solaris 10 3/05 HW1, or Solaris 10 1/06 or higher, with required patches.

NOTE: All existing SMS 1.5, 1.4.1, 1.4, 1.3, 1.2, and 1.1 users are encouraged to migrate to SMS 1.6 at this time. Sustaining support for SMS 1.4.1 will be discontinued effective July 15, 2006. Sustaining support for SMS 1.3 was discontinued October 5, 2005, and sustaining support for SMS 1.4, 1.2, and 1.1 was discontinued effective June 9, 2004. As of July 15, 2006, SMS 1.6 and 1.5 are the supported SMS releases.

SMS 1.6 software is available as a ZIP file capable of being unpacked with the unzip(1) command present in the Solaris Operating System.
Patches:
SMS patches are available and required for proper operation of your Sun Fire E25K/E20K/15K/12K server. External SunSolve Patches available for SMS 1.6: click here.
If you need to reinstall the software, be certain to re-apply any patches you may have previously applied.
Follow these guidelines when applying patches:
Disable failover before installing the patches.
The system should be stable.
No DR operations should be in progress.
No domain bring up or shutdown should be in progress.
No user initiated data sync or cmdsync operations should be in progress.
Complete any domain, board, or configuration changes before you begin patch installation.
Please read all patch instructions carefully before attempting this procedure. Instructions in the patch procedure could preempt these
instructions.
