The Sun Fire E2900 server, equipped with twelve 1.95GHz UltraSPARC IV+ processors and running
the BEA Weblogic 9.2 Application Server, and 1 Sun Fire T2000 server equipped with 1.2 GHz UltraSPARC T1 processor
and running the DB2 8.2 Universal Database, obtained 1781.37 SPECjAppServer2004 JOPS@Standard in the SPECjAppServer2004
benchmark. This is a World Record for application server performance on a single system. The Sun Fire E2900 also performed
7% better than the cluster of six HP DL380 G4 servers and 32% better than the cluster of six IBM eServer xSeries 365 servers. [4]
The Sun Fire E2900 server, equipped with 12x UltraSPARC IV+ 1.5GHz processors achieved an overall
World Record result in the Lotus Domino R6iNotes benchmark, with 34000 users, producing the highest number of NotesMark
transactions/min (28268 N-Mark). The NotesBench R6iNotes result produced on the Sun Fire E2900 server beats the previous
record, held by the IBM P5 570-0926 server, with 19% more users and a price per user about half of the IBM server price
per user. This benchmark simulates active users accessing their Domino R6iNotes mailfiles via standard Web browser. The
R6iNotes workload is HTTP-based and uses the Lotus Domino Mail server. R6iNotes is heavier than NRPC based R6mail, with
larger mailfile sizes using the MIME format. [3]
The Sun Fire V890 and E2900 servers set a new world record using Siebel's standard Platform Sizing
and Performance Program (PSPP) benchmark suite with Siebel 7.5.2 (as of September 30, 2004). This result makes Sun
the UNIX leader for running Siebel eBusiness applications in terms of pure performance and price/performance. In fact,
Sun performed significantly better than the next best UNIX published result for Siebel 7.5.X: 24% on the Web tier, 73%
on the application tier, and 174% on the database tier. The result of 10,000 Siebel OLTP users and Siebel server
batch components was run in a mixed environment of UltraSPARC III, IIIi, and IV systems, demonstrating that customers
benefit from Sun's promise of binary compatibility and investment protection. [2]
Sun achieved a world record number of users when running Peoplesoft Financials 8.4 Online benchmark using Oracle9i
and Sun Fire E2900 and E4900 servers. This result makes Sun the UNIX leader for scalability and performance on high volume, real-world
online transaction processing (OLTP) workloads for Peoplesoft Financials, outperforming the nearest competitor by 15% (1). A combination
of Sun Fire E2900 and E4900 servers, Sun StorEdge 6120 and the Solaris OS demonstrate that the Sun SPARC/Solaris platform is optimized for
OLTP in highly secure, highly available environments, enabling organizations to meet their service-level agreements (SLAs) and maximize
return on investment (ROI). [1]
