Solaris ZFS File System Included

The free and open Solaris ZFS gives this system the industry's highest data throughput rate (2.0GB/s from disks to network, 3.0GB/s to memory) with the highest data integrity and end-to-end data protection available. It also delivers sophisticated file system capabilities while automating administrative tasks, protecting data from corruption, and providing virtually unlimited scalability. This new technology uses virtual storage pools, simplifying file system management and eliminating the need for costly volume managers. Solaris ZFS also delivers SW Raid functionality – RAID Z for RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5, and RAID z2 for RAID 6 – with minimal overhead. Designed with the administrator in mind, ZFS is the only self-healing, self-managing general purpose file system.
