On April 1, 2009, Solaris 8 entered End of Service Life Phase 2. Customers who have been using Solaris 8 will not receive vintage patches, i.e. patches developed on or after April 1, 2009, not even security patches, unless they purchase the Solaris 8 Vintage Patch Service.

Description

Customers who do not require vintage patches may continue to purchase existing support offerings such as SunSpectrum and Solaris 8 subscriptions. Customers who wish to receive vintage patches must purchase the Solaris 8 Vintage Patch Service in addition to the existing support offerings.

Pricing and Availability

The Solaris 8 Vintage Patch Service may be purchased now through March 31, 2012. Contact your local Sun sales representative or Sun authorized partner for pricing information.

Annual pricing is based on the maximum number of sockets (or processors) per system. Multiple cores per socket count as one socket. Customers must meet a minimum annual price of $24,000. The minimum term for the service is one year.
