Description:
This document describes the Solaris Operating System (OS) Retirement Support program for End of Life'd (EOL) Solaris OS releases. The information provided covers the support status of every Solaris OS release.

Document Body:
Solaris Operating System Support Matrix Solaris Retirement Support, the name for Sun's non-current Solaris support model, provides contractual support on the Solaris OS (SPARC(R) and x86 Platform Edition) release for five years from the End-of-Life (EOL) date as follows:

Table 1: Retirement Phase Description
Phase
Support Level
Retirement Phase 1 (Years 1 & 2 After Last Ship Date)
The level of support will provide contract customers full remedial support excepting requests for enhancements and cosmetic bugs. Patches will be created as needed and distributed via SunSolve. This provides no material reduction in the level of support. However, patches will not be rolled up into quarterly updates.
Retirement Phase 2 (Years 3, 4 & 5 After Last Ship Date)
Contract customers will continue to receive telephone support and access to existing patches in SunSolve.

Note: A detailed description of the service levels is provided by InfoDoc 70063 (accessible for contract customers only). The Solaris Retirement Support status of each Solaris release is detailed in the tables below. As Solaris releases are EOL'd this matrix will be updated to provide current information.

Note: All dates in mm/dd/yy notation.

* LS Date = Last Ship date. The LS Date is the trigger date for Solaris Retirement Support. Prior to Solaris 2.5.1 the Last Order Date had been used as the non-current Solaris support trigger date. The dates listed under LS Date for releases prior to Solaris 2.5.1 are actually their Last Order date. These dates will remain their Solaris Retirement Support trigger dates to ensure consistency with previously published non-current Solaris support documentation. LS dates will be utilized for all future Solaris releases beginning with Solaris 2.5.1.

** The Solaris 2.5 dates were adjusted to the original dates. Before 10/23/01 the document showed erroneously the same LS date (and derived dates) as Solaris 2.5.1. Note: The Premium Option was terminated by 04/25/2002.
