  • Review environment and installation needs prior to the development of the System Installation Specification
  • Document environmental states
Installation Planning (On-site)
  • Plan and confirm schedule and resources with customer
  • Plan and confirm delivery and installation dates
  • Create installation related documentation
System Installation Specification
  • Plan and confirm system setup requirements with customer
    (up to 18 domains for E25K & up to 9 domains for E20K configured at time of system installation)
    - System Controller configuration
    - Domain Solaris installation & configuration
  • Define patch baseline (default: current EIS-DVD contents)
  • Confirm customer acceptance criteria (verification testing)
  • Configuration of external storage (apart from boot disks) is not included
Statement of Installation
  • Verify completion of pre-installation tasks
  • Verify supported configuration
Installation and Customization of Sun Hardware and Software
  • Review packing list to ensure all items are present
  • Install all internal and external components
  • Have power & grounding connected according to Best Practices or defined standards
  • Label cables according to EIS or customer standards
  • Power up system
  • Configure pre-installed System Controllers and update patches from EIS-DVD as appropriate
  • Test hardware components
  • Update internal/boot disk firmware as appropriate
  • Install and configure Solaris on each domain
  • Configure as NIS, DNS client as appropriate
  • Patch according to EIS-DVD baseline
  • Configure NTP client
  • Mirror boot disk as appropriate
Installation Verification
  • Run explorer data collector and examine on-site with analysis tools from EIS-DVD
  • Run all required tests according to previously defined acceptance criteria
  • Post installation review and customer acceptance
System Turnover
  • Installation review and customer sign off
  • Provide system reference documentation detailing the installation
