Installation Planning (on-site or via telephone)
  • Plan and confirm schedule, resources, delivery and installation dates with customer
  • Create installation related documentation
System Installation Specification
  • Plan and confirm cluster setup requirements with customer, including installation plan
  • Basic installation on the nodes including Network File System (NFS) and Domain Name Service (DNS) data services and VERITAS Volume Manager or Solaris Volume Manager
  • Define fail over testing scenarios
Statement of Installation
  • Verify completion of pre-installation tasks
  • Verify supported configuration
Installation and Customization of Sun Hardware and Software
  • Installation of any Solaris Operating Environment patches that Sun determines are necessary for successful installation of the Sun Cluster software
  • Sun Cluster console panel (including SunPlex GUI) installation
  • Terminal server configuration
  • Installation of the Sun Cluster software on the nodes, including Network Time Protocol (NTP) modification, system variables modification and quorum configuration

If you make any modifications to the Sun Cluster environment before the Review and Document Transfer Meeting, resulting in corruption of the Sun Cluster Software installation, Sun may bill for additional time and materials to conduct repairs.

In case of non-mission critical deployments you can perform a Sun Cluster software installation by yourself and let Sun Support Services validate the installation against the Enterprise Installation Services standards.

Based on this validation you can purchase a support contract for Sun Cluster software from Sun.

    Sun Services offers support customers running a previous version of Sun Cluster an upgrade installation service to the latest update of the current Sun Cluster version. This upgrade installation service is available to all customers at the regular local rate of time and materials. Contact your Sun Sales Representative for details.

  • Sun Services Cluster Update Installation Service
    Sun offers support customers running the current version of Sun Cluster an update installation service to the latest update of Sun Cluster.

    The update installation is performed without bringing down the cluster. Hence the cluster services are available continously. This service is charged on a per node basis. Please contact your Sun Sales Representative for more information.
