Overview

Sun has embarked on an effort to simplify those decisions by offering an array of Reference Architectures that combine Sun's scalable hardware and software platform with leading third-party technologies. Our goal is to simplify decision making with a set of architecture, implementation, and sizing guides, and to further support deployments with integration and testing services.

All Sun Reference Architectures are designed, tested, tuned, and documented proof-of-concept deployment architectures that decrease the complexity of decision making and deployment while simultaneously increasing reliability and lowering risk. These architectures serve as a recommended solution, allowing customers to tailor a solution to meet their specific requirements.

Recommended Architectures

Reference Architectures are designed, tested, tuned, and integrated proof-of-concept implementations for selected market needs. The architectures are based on Sun hardware and software using best-in-class solution providers. The architectures are featured in Sun's Solution Centers, where you can see a system at work and test specific workload requirements. The goal of this service is to help you make informed architectural decisions, saving time and costly architecture design evaluations.

Each Reference Architecture has been designed, tested, and documented, so customers can make decisions more quickly, reducing the complexity, costs, and risks of deploying new technology in their enterprises. Sun's Reference Architectures combine:

SunTone Certification Program Compliance

The SunTone Initiative, an industry effort led by Sun, provides specifications of best practices and policies, assessment and remediation consulting offerings, and an audit and certification process to help ensure high-quality networked service delivery and management. Reference Architectures are built to SunTone standards and offer a building block to SunTone certification for enterprise infrastructures.

Reference Architectures are SunTone Quality Enablers and have been built and tested for compliance using the SunTone Specification 2.0, offering customers a building block for SunTone certification and faster deployment of network services.
