Q.

Why was this Reference Architecture created? Who will use it?

A.

The Secure Web Server reference architecture was created to give customers a ready-to-deploy web server architecture that is secure and horizontally scalable. Some of the major concerns for enterprise's IT infrastructure are security, scalability, and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Web servers are particularly vulnerable entry point into an IT infrastructure. Although security patches can be issued once worms and other intruders are identified, the frequent updating, maintenance, and required system reboots significantly raises the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). By starting with a secure and scalable foundation, the Secure Web Server reference architecture provides a web server architecture that addresses the concerns of today's IT infrastructure.

Medium to large enterprises are the target customers for this architecture.
