Sun Shared Shell (Shared Shell) is a collaborative service tool that allows, under your control, Sun Services engineers to remotely view and diagnose your Sun products. It is a Java application that provides secure, shared, remote access to a shell session that both customers and Sun Services engineers view at the same time. You can invite your colleague or additional Sun engineers to participate in the conference as needed. You are always in control of who participates and who has access to the remote access session.
Make sure you have a recent version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed. Check your installation at the Java verification page, or visit the java.com auto-install, or manual-download page. The minimum required version is 1.4.2. Both Java SE 5 (1.5.0) and Java SE 6 (1.6.0) are supported.
Shared Shell is supported on all the JRE platforms listed on the J2SE supported systems page. Shared Shell is designed to work on other platforms with a Java 1.4.2 or newer runtime environment, such as Mac OS X, but these environments are not directly supported by Sun.
Use your sun.com user name and password to log in to Shared Shell.
