Sun Connection provides two deployment architectures – a Sun hosted and a satellite deployment architecture. With the Sun Connection hosted deployment architecture all functionality is stored remotely on Sun's network, with managed systems downloading packages across the Internet. With the Sun Connection satellite deployment architecture all Sun Connection functionality is stored locally on your network,with managed systems connecting to Satellite Server,rather than downloading packages across the Internet. In addition, Sun Connection proxy servers can be added for added scalability. Q: Are Solaris 8 and 9 channels included with active service plans?

No. Customers must purchase the Solaris 8 & 9 Update and Provisioning Channels.
