End of Service Life (EOSL) Support for Sun Hardware Products

Sun will make support available for five years after the Last Ship Date. Sun may elect to cease offering support for a specific Hardware Product before the end of the five-year EOSL period. If this occurs, Sun will provide Customers with at least three months' notice of its plans to discontinue support. Sun documentation refers to EOSL by month and year for Hardware Products, for example 7/2003. The last day of the applicable month is the EOSL Date for a hardware product.

For additional information regarding Sun hardware product EOL/EOSL, Sun support contract customers should log in to the Sun System Handbook on SunSolve.

EOSL Policy for Upgraded Sun Fire V1280/4800/6800/12K/15K Systems:

If a customer upgrades an existing UltraSPARC III-based system (V1280/F4800/F6800/F12K/F15K) to support UltraSPARC IV or UltraSPARC IV+ processors, the EOSL of the upgraded system will default to the EOSL of the UltraSPARC IV/IV+ system (E2900/E4900/E6900/E20K/E25K).

PLEASE NOTE: Upgraded systems do not formally change from Sun Fire V1280/4800/6800/12K/15K to Sun Fire E2900/E4900/E6900/E20K/E25K. Once upgraded to support USIV or USIV+, they do assume the new EOSL date, however the original server names/designations remain the same.
