Sun Sun Support Files

Sun Support Files is a service that enables Sun customers and field engineers to transfer core, explorer and other files securely to Sun. After customer file upload, the file can be accessed internally by Sun engineers once they login to this service. Files can also be uploaded into this service that customers can download.

How To Use Support Files?

Customers can use any of the following ways to transfer a file to Sun :
  • Web browser using https
  • Freeware tool called CURL
  • Anonymous FTP
  • Note:
    Web and CURL are secure while anonymous FTP is not.
CURL is available through following ways:

  • Install Sun Explorer version 5.5 or later and use the version of CURL which is installed into /opt/SUNWexplo/bin.
  • Visit Sunfreeware.com and download the latest version of CURL available for your version of Solaris.

Activities in Sun Support Files framework :

  1. Customer uploads files using web browser, CURL command-line or anonymous ftp.
  2. Sun enginner sends notification and location of the file to customer.
  3. Customer downloads the file using Sun Support Files - File Transfer Service
