Software Developers Converge at China's Largest-Ever Developer Conference--JavaChina 2005
BEIJING, CHINA -- JAVACHINA 2005 -- September 13, 2005 -- Sun Microsystems,
Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW), founder and leading advocate of Java technology,
today began celebrating Java technology's tenth anniversary at the
JavaChina 2005 Developer Conference. Over the next two days, Sun will
announce major alliances and new customer wins that underscore how the
adoption of Java technology is accelerating in China and helping to fuel
economic growth.

Sun will host nearly 10,000 Java developers and IT professionals during the two-day event in Beijing, as well as reaching out, via satellite broadcast, to eight additional cities throughout China, namely, Chengdu, DaLian, Guanghzou, Hong Kong, NanJing, Shanghai, ShenZhen and Xi'an. James Gosling, widely recognized throughout the world as the 'father of Java' and chief technology officer of the Sun developer products group, will join Scott McNealy in delivering the event's keynote speeches. Java Technology at the Center of China's Growing Software Industry Java technology is playing a pivotal role in China's prominence as one of the world's leading software development centers. Over 200,000 Chinese developers are now using Java technology on more types of mobile devices, smart cards, ATMs, thin clients, PCs, servers and mainframes than any other software. JavaChina 2005 is part of Sun's ongoing effort to support China's software developers through education, information and development tools such as the Sun Java Studio Creator application development tool and the open-sourced NetBeans software products. Solaris 10 Operating System (OS) Gains Momentum in China Indicative of growing support for its Solaris 10 Operating System, Sun also revealed that a number of leading Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) in China have announced migration to the Solaris operating system. These include UFIDA, JIT, KingDee, TongTech, Amarsoft, eBaoTech and Wiscom. China's Developers Sharpen Their Java Technology Skills JavaChina 2005 will offer more than 100 workshops, classes and breakout sessions, in addition to code camps and hands-on labs.
