Solaris Cluster Open Hardware Program

Overview

Getting started: Installing Solaris and Sun Cluster on your ProLiant server

Prior to the Sun field engineer arriving on site to install Solaris and Sun Cluster, the following tasks need to be completed by either the customer, HP field engineer or HP's authorized representative.

Now, let's get started...
  • Unpack the HP server and insert into rack as appropriate.
  • Connect power and networking cables (but not yet data cables for external storage).
  • Configure the iLO2 and update the server firmware/BIOS as appropriate.
  • Configure the BIOS so that system will boot from designated boot disk and be ready to boot either from Solaris media in local DVD or via network (PXE).
  • Configure RAID for the internal disks.
  • Configure the console access to the servers (optional if using a keyboard/mouse).
Refer to HP ProLiant complete online reference guides.
