For more information about this software, including recommended updates, go to http://www.sun.com/storage/san Installing Another Solaris ReleaseIf you choose to install a different Solaris release on a system in place of the preinstalled version, follow the instructions provided in the media folder for that Solaris release. However, you risk deleting all the preinstalled software on this system if you perform a new installation of any release of Solaris software, rather than performing an upgrade of the preinstalled Solaris OS. If you intend to make a fresh installation of Solaris OS, be sure all the other preinstalled software you plan to use is backed up or available to you for reinstallation. Restoring Preinstalled SoftwareThis system is not provided with media that reproduces the exact state of software preinstalled on this system. If you replace the original hard drive that contains the preinstalled software, the replacement drive will not contain the software. To be ready to restore the preinstalled software to this system in the future, prepare a backup of the software you intend to use. Order the appropriate media kit for the version preinstalled on your system:
Some software products are provided on the Solaris DVD (or on the final CD of a series of Solaris software CDs) in the ExtraValue directory. The default
Solaris installation process might not install all the
software from this directory that you intend to use.

Also pay attention to issues described in the Release Notes for your software products, the Product Notes for your hardware products, and general issues about preinstalled software covered at: http://www.sun.com/software/preinstall Remote Superuser (root) Logins Enabled by Default The Solaris 9 9/04 Operating System preinstalled on your system has been modified to allow remote superuser (root) logins. This is controlled by the following entry in the /etc/default/login file:
For increased security, you can restrict superuser logins to
occur only from the system console by uncommenting the above
entry in the /etc/default/login file.
When superuser access is restricted in this manner, users
who attempt to log in remotely are prevented from logging
in as superuser and can only log in with their own user
login. Only after a successful user login can the user become
superuser by issuing the su command
and superuser password.

/etc/driver_aliases file. It poses
no adverse effect on system operation and can be safely ignored.
You can prevent this warning from appearing by commenting out the following line in the /etc/driver_aliases file:

On a system with preinstalled Sun Java Enterprise System software, the following warning might be displayed during the boot process:
