Application Description Softwired
AG's iBus//Mobile mobilizes an application by using Java
standards based technology from the back end application right
through to the device. iBus//Mobile connects any J2EE (or JMS)
server to any J2ME device application (in fact right through from
native or non programmable devices to programmable devices running
MIDP and Personal Java) based on standards to communicate reliably
and efficiently from device to device, from device to server, and
from server to device. iBus//Mobile is both bearer and device
agnostic and deployed in large scale operations. Communication
models offered by iBus//Mobile are end-to-end JMS message queuing,
publish/subscribe, and request/reply. Mobile applications become
highly interactive and fully reliable with guaranteed delivery of
application data. By enabling 'store and forward' of application
data, iBus//Mobile's automated seamless switching, allows
applications to operated in both on- and off-line modes!
Integration with Java System Application Server (formerly Sun
ONE Application Server)
The general architecture model includes backend applications using
messaging to communicate with applications on the client device.
All topics and queues relevant to the client application are
monitored by the Gateway acting as a proxy for the client. Messages
are directed to the device using the appropriate bearer and
visa-versa. More.
Sun Microsystems incorporated Softwired's world renowned
iBus//Mobile solution into the Sun Java System (formerly Sun ONE)
platform based on this general architecture. The integration
underlines Sun's commitment to provide seamless access to web
services using Java Message Service (JMS) applications,
dramatically enhancing the mobile enterprise environment. More.
The integration combines the proven JMS technology of Softwired's
iBus//Mobile solution with the flexible and cost-efficient Sun Java
System offering. The iBus//Mobile solution runs on Java technology
and encourages developers to write business applications to
wireless technology in a format they understand. JMS technology
guarantees wireless data delivery on any network or device at
anytime - wherever you are in the world. Sun, recognized the
real-time benefits of such an integration and how valuable this
type of deal will be in making the Java platform the mass-market
technology for the telecoms industry. The integration represents a
standards-based solution for the telecommunications market, with
the emphasis on J2EE and J2ME through JMS. It will now be even
easier for developers to create applications and content for
multiple devices that are currently on the market and those devices
that haven't yet been launched. The new Sun ONE iBus//Mobile
solution from Sun and Softwired provides a seamless wireless
platform upon which to deliver content. With this product, people
will no longer be tied to their desks - Sun and Softwired are
really enhancing the enterprise environment. More.
Benefit to customers
Both mobile operators and enterprise customers benefit from an
end-to-end WJMS solution. Device and bearer independence enables
investment in mobile technology today knowing that such investment
is protected as device and communication standards evolve over
time.
Asynchronous messaging using WJMS, supports asynchronous
applications, which fit perfectly the requirements of disconnected
and unreliable mobile networking environments. Ask a question, make
a request, instruct a remote application and move onto the next
task without the need to wait for a response! This decoupling of
communication relieves the developer from having to program around
poor coverage and failures of the network to ensure data integrity.
Applications include, chat, email, IM, MMS, GPS, field force
automation, sales automation, customer CRM as well as billing,
security and profiling services. Rich applications supported by
reliable WJMS, allow end users to interact like a wireline
environment. WJMS supports the full spectrum of devices from
low-end, MIDP to high end SmartPhones such as SMS, to MIDP/SOAP
devices to high end communicators using PJava, and laptops, thus
future proofing mobile solution.
