Sun Java System Application Server

Migration FAQ

General

Q:
How much effort is it to migrate from other competitive application servers to the Sun Java System Application Server 8.2/9?
A:
Effort estimates are difficult to predict without understanding application details and existing and proposed infrastructure. We recommend that users first use the freely available Java EE Application Verification Kit (AVK), which will help in determining portability of your application. AVK helps identify proprietary code you may be using specific to your existing application server. The AVK output gives a fairly good idea of how much effort is required from a code perspective to migrate the proprietary APIs/components.
