Stirring Innovation with OpenSSOOn July 13, 2005, Sun announced the intention to open source web single sign-on. Web Single Sign-On technology is very mature and SSO is a common starting point for identity management projects. With the Open Web Single Sign-On (OpenSSO) project, Sun is providing developers with access to this technology so that it can become a ubiquitous part of web security infrastructure. We know that companies are going to secure their internal web infrastructure using Web SSO technology, and the OpenSSO project gives developers the freedom to focus on securing their intranet architecture without adding software license costs to their project budgets. To deliver OpenSSO, Sun will make the following Java System Access Manager modules freely and publicly available:
The source code will be available on www.java.net with the specific project page hosted on opensso.dev.java.net. On this website, we expect to see plenty of new and exciting community interaction, innovation and future development through project forums and other available resources for the developer community.
