Portal Server perpetual and/or annual subscriptions are also available per CPU or per socket, which entitles the customer to one CPU or one socket that includes a restricted-use license for Sun Java System Access Manager, Sun Java System Directory Server, Sun Java System Web Server and Sun Java System Application Server (Enterprise Edition).

Is there still a 2 CPU minimum purchase as before?

No.

What are the exceptions to this licensing model?

There are two exceptions to this licensing model:

Duplicate Portal Installations – Customers who desire a duplicate Portal installation for failover purposes are entitled to a 50% savings off the list price.
Pilot Installations – A pilot option is currently available whereby the evaluation copy of the software is provided with a 90-day support contract for only $10K(U.S.). (See Sun Java System OEM price book, part #DSS89-SUS-T889.) For unsupported POC's, simply download the software from http://www.sun.com/download.

What is the migration and upgrade plan for customers who have purchased Portal Server at the previous pricing?

Portal Server 6 customers with qualifying support contracts are entitled to upgrade to 1 CPU of Portal Server 7 for each CPU purchased of Portal 6. Any additional CPUs required will have to be purchased at the new $57K (U.S.) per CPU price.
