Droplets is a platform for creating and deploying applications and portlets that feature the end user benefits of desktop software (speed, interactivity, ease of use, charisma) combined with the benefits of Web applications (low-cost central server administration, instant deployment and upgrade, cross-platform support). With Droplets, portal administrators can deploy direct user interface connections to their J2EE-based business logic, without the overhead of "fat browser" technologies, such as DHTML or Java applets, or administration of local desktop software.

Portlets Descriptions

• Droplets E-mail - fully functional e-mail client that can connect to IMAP e-mail servers.
• Droplets Chat - basic live chat application.
• Droplets Oracle Database Reporter - execute queries, view/sort data and generate simple reports from Oracle databases.
• Droplets Interactive Community Calendar - simple events calendar.
• Droplets Software Development Kit and User Interface Server - tools for generating interactive, Java technology based portlets with desktop application-style interfaces.
