Has the End of Life (EOL) announce and transition of Solaris 9 already happened?
A:
On April 15 2008, Sun communicated the pre-notification of the upcoming Solaris 9 Operating System End of Life transition to customers and partners.

On April 28, 2009, Sun announced the Solaris 9 Operating System End of Life transition to customers and partners. Life cycle events (Last Order Date, Last Ship Date, End of Retirement Phase 1 and End of Service Life) will subsequently occur at the intervals defined in the life cycle model.

Sun encourages all customers to upgrade to the Solaris 10 Operating System and get the benefits of the latest systems and the innovations in Solaris 10.

Q:
What is the effect of this Solaris 9 EOL pre-notification on the support I receive from Sun?
A:
This pre-notification does not impact the support that customers receive from Sun for Solaris 9. Contract customers will continue to receive the same level of support as they have in the past.

Once Solaris 9 enters into its retirement support phases as defined in the Solaris life cycle, customers will receive support at the levels defined in the Solaris life cycle.
