Support Overview
The content in this document is to be used for the purpose of
understanding the Solaris 9 OS product offering and its licensing
and support issues.
Please note that any information pertaining to FUTURE product
offerings is still considered unofficial. The information is
provided for planning purposes only. A separate matrix for Solaris
x86 is being planned.
Summary
This document provides an overview of licensing, support, and
product/feature availability for Solaris 9 OS specific to Sun ONE
components and Bonus Pack Software. The content is intended to
provide comprehensive information for customers. If you have any

Systems purchased after 4/01/02 from Sun and
Sun authorized channels are licensed to run any current versions of
Solaris (8, or 9, select one at time of purchase)
If Covered by a Sun Support Contract all upgrades to Solaris
9 are included
If Not Covered by a Sun Support Contract:
Existing systems purchased from Sun or Sun authorized resellers can
upgrade to Solaris 9 by purchasing upgrade license

Certain customers may qualify to participate in the Solaris Free
Binary License program. Please visit http://www.sun.com/solaris/binaries
for details of the program.
If System Acquired From a Source Other Than Sun or Its
Partners customer must purchase
license.
