Mozilla 1.4 Browser for the Solaris Operating System

Installing the Mozilla 1.4 Browser should not interfere with current installations of Mozilla or Netscape software, other browsers, or your system software. However, some issues exist with possible mailbox data corruption. However, see the Read Me document for detailed compatibility information.

The same document includes a detailed Installation Guide, so be sure to read it before you begin the installation procedure.

• Solaris 9 Operating System, SPARC® and x86 Architecture Platform Editions
• Solaris 8 Operating System, SPARC® and x86 Architecture Platform Editions

Desktop Environments:

• GNOME 2.0
• Common Desktop Environment (CDE)

Disk Space

• 144 Mbytes of free disk space for a full installation (or 80 MB if you are installing the SVR4 packages)
• You need an additional 100 Mbytes if you are using the Web Start installer. (NOTE: You can recover the additional space after the installation is complete.)
• You need an additional 182 Mbytes if you are installing the SVR4 packages. (NOTE: You can recover the additional space after the installation is complete.)

Java:

• Java 2 Standard Edition 1.4.2 (J2SE) -- included with the Mozilla 1.4 Browser
• Using previous versions of the J2SE may result in some compatibility issues using the Mozilla 1.4 Browser. For more information on the Java platform compatibility with previous releases please visit: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/compatibility.html

• Mozilla 1.4 for the Solaris OS is covered by Sun Services' support offerings for the Solaris Operating System.
