Solaris 10 Binary Application Guarantee Program

The Solaris 10 Binary Application Guarantee Program (the "Binary Program") is offered by Sun Microsystems Inc. to Sun customers who have authorized licenses for the Solaris 10 operating system ("Solaris 10 OS") and who have Eligible Applications (as defined below); and to developers and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who have developed or distributed applications that currently run on Solaris OS, versions 2.6, 7, 8 or 9 ("Existing Solaris Systems"). The Binary Program is designed to provide assistance so that Eligible Applications run on Solaris 10 OS.

If you have an application that ran well on an Existing Solaris System on Sun UltraSPARC systems, Fujitsu SPARC64 systems, and x86, AMD64, and EM64-T systems specified in the x86 Hardware Compatibility List ("Supported Hardware"), but the application is experiencing significant problems on Solaris 10 OS (e.g. error messages, hung program, significant performance reduction or other problems), here’s what you need to do to see if this Binary Program can help you:

  1. Check to see if your application is using any deleted interfaces or libraries that were removed from the Solaris 10 OS. We have developed the Solaris Application Scanner Tool to help you do this. Go to https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_SMI-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=SolCAT-1.0-G-F@CDS-CDS_SMI, download and run the tool and correct all errors identified by the tool until your application passes, with no problems or errors detected. Be sure to save the output that indicates your applications passed because Sun may ask you to submit it. Once you’ve corrected all errors identified by the tool, run your application again on the Solaris 10 OS.

  2. If you are still experiencing significant problems, make sure you are not using any Solaris 10 features that may have new APIs requiring recompilation of Solaris binaries: Solaris Containers, Predictive Self Healing, Process Rights Management, Memory Placement Optimization, Event Ports, Crypto Framework, or any of the APIs listed at http://partneradvantage.sun.com/protected/solaris10/adoptionkit/general/new_interfaces.html. The Binary Program does not cover problems caused by these features, or problems caused by recompiling Solaris binaries in order to use these features.

  3. Still having problems? Go to the Submission Form below and complete all the fields, including a description of your problem.

  4. You will be directed to the Solaris 10 Binary Application Guarantee Program Agreement. Read all the terms of the Agreement carefully, and if all of them apply to you, and you agree with them, then click on "Accept." All submissions must be received no later than December 31, 2008.

  5. Sun will send you an acknowledgment upon receipt of your submission. Before your application is accepted, you may be requested to provide a binary copy of your application that is experiencing significant problems, any failure reports, the results of the Solaris Application Scanner Tool, and other information necessary for Sun to verify whether your application is an Eligible Application as defined in the Agreement.

  6. If you receive notice from Sun that your application has been accepted by Sun as an Eligible Application, Sun will assist you in getting your application to run on the Solaris 10 OS pursuant to the terms of the Agreement.
