Question

How do I run Veritas Volume Manager on Trusted Solaris?

Answer

VxVm does work with Trusted Solaris to manage a ufs filesystem.

Procedure

  1. Assume the secadmin role.
  2. Use the Profile Manager to create an "Enterprise Volume Manager" profile
  3. Add these privileges:
    file_dac_read
    file_dac_write
    file_mac_read
    file_mac_write
    sys_devices

    to each of the following:
    /usr/sbin/ssaadm
    /usr/sbin/vx*
    /sbin/vx*
    /opt/SUNWvxva/bin/*
    /usr/lib/vxvm/bin/*
  4. Assign the profile to whichever role is responsible for running the volume manager.
  5. Assume the role at admin_low.
  6. Run:
    /usr/sbin/vxinstall
Applies to Trusted Solaris Release:

1.2, 2.5, 2.5.1, 7
