Licensing the Sun Ray Software for use is easy. Here are the guidelines to get you started.
A. Terms of the License -- the Software License Agreement
A Software License Agreement (SLA) always accompanies Sun Ray Software. The SLA sets forth the terms under which Sun Microsystems, Inc. allows an end user to use Sun Ray Software and is a binding legal agreement between Sun and the end user. End users should be sure to review the SLA in its entirety, and any legal questions should be directed to the end user's own legal counsel.
Please note that because the license granted by Sun is non-transferable, end users may not give the Sun Ray Software to any third party, or allow any third party to use their media or software.
B. Getting the Software Initially
Customers can get the latest Sun Ray Software by purchasing a media kit from a Sun sales rep, Sun authorized reseller or from Sun's online store (US only). Free downloads of Sun Ray Software are available (some restrictions apply). Downloads are recommended only for end users with a high-speed Internet connection.
C. Upgrading form Sun Ray Server Software to Sun Ray Software
Sun Ray Server Software had specific named releases, such as 'Sun Ray Server Software 3.1. Each named release may also have had add-ons and patches. A license to use a certain named version of the software, such as Sun Ray Server Software 3.1, includes the right to use that named version. A valid service contract is now required to get access to Sun Ray Software patches and updates for that named release. Those customers with an existing Sun Ray Server Software support contract will now get support for Sun Ray Software 4 and its components which include: Sun Ray Server Software, Sun Ray Connector for Windows OS and Sun Desktop Manager.
* Annual support contract. Customers who buy a support contract are authorized to use all add-ons, patches and new named versions to Sun Ray Software that ship during the term of the contract. Support contract customers always have access to the latest Sun Ray Software during the contract period.
Existing customers without a support contract may purchase Sun Ray Software support contract from a Sun sales representative or Sun authorized reseller.
