ANSMANN offers mobile energy solutions for wide-ranging applications. Its batteries, chargers, and power supplies are used in everything from cameras and mobile phones to laptops and gaming systems. The company's other products include mobile lighting and baby-monitoring systems and remote-controlled racing toys. With 200 employees, ANSMANN has its headquarters in Assamstadt, Germany, and subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Great Britain, Macau, Italy, France, and the Baltic region.

Applied Relational Technology at WestQuay and Southampton

Applied Relational Technology (ART) set out to vastly improve information flow and remote management in the U.K.'s newest shopping destinations. The Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients brought such functions as shopping center alerts, messaging capabilities, retail sales reporting, and consumer touch screen kiosks to life.

Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena

Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, formed in 1472, is the oldest operating financial institution in the world. Headquartered in Siena, Italy, it operates more than 1,800 branches throughout Italy. The organization has 28,000 employees and 4.5 million customers in Italy. Fabio Beconcini, Head of UNIX Systems, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena had this to say about Sun Ray technology.

Barwon Health

Barwon Health in Australia is the state of Victoria's largest regional health service, with an annual operating budget in excess of $275 million. The organization provides high-quality, care, employing more than 5,000 staff.

Dr. Charlie Corke, Director of the Intensive Care Unit agrees. "We are absolutely delighted with the way that Sun Ray clients have enabled us to apply mobile computing technology to an ICU environment. Busan Adventist Hospital (BAH)

To match increasing workloads, improve efficiency and deliver higher-quality medical service, BAH introduced a comprehensive information system based on Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients, Sun Fire servers and Sun StorageTek. The Sun infrastructure enabled the hospital to reduce management costs, electricity use and noise. In addition, the solution helped simplify IT administration and consolidate medical records, information and picture archiving systems.

Cajundome Arena

Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients and Sun Fire servers helped technology provider Wow! Technologies create a reliable communications infrastructure for thousands of evacuees and emergency aid workers.

Canary Islands Health Service

Government Health Service Commits to Eco Responsibility with Sun Ray Virtual Display Clients. "For us, the low energy consumption of the Sun Ray Virtual Display Clients and the Sun servers based on the Ultra SPARC T1 processor ratify one of the basic principles of the Canary Islands Energy Plan (PECAN 2006): the saving of energy." -- Wenceslao Berriel, Head of the Computer Programming Service, Canary Islands Health Service.

Centrepoint

The Sun solution consists of Sun Ray 270 and 170 virtual display clients running on Sun Fire V210 servers with the Solaris 10 Operating System and Java Desktop System. All residents at Centrepoint now have 24x7 Internet access to support their studies and careers.

City of Paderborn, Germany

The city of Paderborn, Germany needed to provide 45 schools and more than 21,000 users access to centralized UNIX and Microsoft Windows applications. With Sun Secure Global Desktop Software, all users require is a Sun Ray virtual display client or a client device with a Java technology-enabled Web browser and a URL to securely access both application types.

Colorado State University, Academic Village

With the Sun Ray network, the IT staff has tighter control over security. Instead of updating individual computers, the staff installs patches and updates once on a central server. This immediately provides the latest applications and virus updates to all of the Sun Ray display clients across campus. With centralized management, the IT staff has seen a dramatic reduction in system maintenance time - from eight hours per week to one hour per month.

Danish Technical University

After reviewing the current technology and available products, Danish Technical University determined that Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients were the best choice for their next-generation desktop solution.

Denver Health

Denver Health is a comprehensive, integrated healthcare provider serving residents of the Denver area--regardless of their ability to pay. In the last 10 years, this organization has provided more than $2.1 billion in care for the uninsured. Twenty-five percent of all Denver residents receive their healthcare at Denver Health, and one third of all children in Denver are cared for by a Denver Health physician. Denver Health predicts it will save up to $130,000 in energy costs thanks to by implementing Sun Ray Technology. The company also predicts that it can increase the number of patient sessions by more than 1,000 per year, which would yield $81,000 in additional revenue for the organization's Orthopedic Clinic. Finally, desktop set up time has been reduced from one hour to just 10 minutes.

Donnelly Communications

Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients bring a richness to the desktop that was all but absent in Donnelly's call center facilities. They also have required almost no maintenance -- and that results in a lot of money saved for the company.

Ernie Ball Company

Ernie Ball is the world leader in the manufacture of premium electric guitars. Today, all of the company's workstations are Sun Ray ultra thin clients, which provide an interoperable desktop computing solution that requires no local operating system.

G10

G10 is a pioneer in developing IP-based software solutions for video surveillance and real-time data capture for many industries and applications. The company has leveraged Solaris 10 Operating System, Sun server as well as Sun Ray technology to achieve its competitive edge.

Gunadarma University

University replaces PCs with Sun Ray 2 Virtual Display Clients.

Integrated Warfare Systems Laboratory (U.S. Navy)

The U.S. Navy's Integrated Warfare Systems Lab (IWSL) is part of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC). The NSWC provides the right technology, capabilities and specialized research to support all aspects of surface warfare. The IWSL chose the Sun virtual display client solution running on Sun servers to provide access to a broad range of IT systems from a single device. Sun Ray solution helps U.S. Navy Lab improve performance while reducing costs by 50 percent.

ITOCHU Techno-Science Corporation (CTC)

Using Sun Ray thin clients, Sun servers and Sun software, CTC consolidated eight offices into an integrated, secure environment. Mobile workers can access their personal working environment from any desk using their Java card.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

To support a new Adobe Flash Player-based content management system, which provided information to both museum visitors and online inquirers, the Japanese Overseas Migration Museum (run by the JICA) adopted a highly scalable, reliable and energy-efficient content delivery server network and durable, low-maintenance Sun Ray Virtual Display terminals.

King's Daughters Medical Center (KDMC)

KDMC has deployed more than 30 Sun Ray Virtual Display Clients within its Radiology department at its newly constructed Outpatient Imaging Center to eliminate complex, costly and time-consuming administration of PCs.

NTT Data

As Japan's largest system integrator and a leading provider of IT services, NTT Data prides itself on maintaining well-managed information systems. Pentland Brands

Pentland Brands deployed Sun Ray clients to establish a more flexible IT environment supporting a high degree of mobility, as well as centralized management and support of the required infrastructure. Sun Ray technology has enabled Pentland Brands to reduce its IT support staff from ten to four. In addition, the number of internal technical support calls has fallen 77 percent, from 150 to 200 calls per day to 40.

SAP Education Center Improves Service with Sun Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Software and Sun Ray Virtual Display Clients.

Savings and Credit Bank Kuwait

Savings and Credit Bank Kuwait (SCB), established in 1960, is a public corporation with independent status. It operates under the supervision of the Minister of Housing. The bank provides loans to Kuwaiti citizens for land, agriculture, and industry; offers credit to qualified state employees; and promotes the value of savings to Kuwaiti citizens. With the Sun Ray thin client technology, everyday operations, such as hardware troubleshooting and installing patches, is far easier, eliminating the need to locally manage desktops. The bank can now deploy applications to all locations, including its remote offices, from one place. What's more, because the Sun Ray clients have no built-in operating system, provisioning is as simple as plugging them in. As a result of these changes, the number of calls to desktop support declined from 30 a day to virtually none.

Slovak National Library

Founded in 1863, the Slovak National Library is the oldest and largest national library in Slovakia. Sun Ray virtual display clients have greatly reduced the library's operating costs, because thousands of virtual desktops can be managed with just a small IT staff. Energy costs have also decreased because the virtual display clients consume a fraction of the energy of traditional desktops.

Sparkasse Haslach-Zell

Sparkasse Haslach-Zell (SHZ) upgraded its customer relationship systems to Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients, Sun x64 servers and the Java Desktop System. Using the smart card, SHZ employees can log onto any available Sun Ray client with a single sign-on.

Sohgoh Real Estate Company, Ltd.

Sohgoh Real Estate Company Ltd. is a Japanese real estate development company headquartered in Tokyo, with additional offices in Osaka and Shiraoka. Sohgoh Real Estate, which was founded in 1977, was part of the Sohgoh group of companies that achieved the ISO 14001 environmental management standard in 2003, becoming the first apartment developer in Japan to receive that designation. With Sun Ray Technology, Sohgoh Real Estate reduced power consumption, increased security and reduced the time and cost of managing its desktop environment - all with no additional training.

Sun Center of Excellence for Visual Genomics at the University of Calgary

The Sun Center of Excellence for Visual Genomics at the University of Calgary is a non-profit organization that is advancing technology for computational biology based on Sun solutions. The University is using Sun servers and storage systems, Sun virtual desktop solutions, the Solaris 10 Operating System and Java technology to offer innovative new applications in a scalable, stable and cost-efficient environment.

Sydney Business and Travel Academy

The Sydney Business & Travel Academy (SBTA) is located in Sydney, Australia, and offers a range of certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses. As a result of deploying Sun Ray 2 virtual display clients, Sun Ray Software and Sun servers, SBTA has received high levels of satisfaction from both students and staff, especially on the speed of new environment. The academy estimates to have achieved 12 to 15 percent more space in deploying Sun Ray 2 thin client terminals, enabling additional machines to be rolled out to students. Maintenance has been reduced to approximately 30 minutes per week of system monitoring.

Team Netsol / Chelsea Financial Services

The second largest independent discount broker in the U.K. found a significantly faster, more flexible, lower maintenance system with Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients and Sun servers. The Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients left all the application processing to the power of the server, facilitating a flexible Hot-Desk environment that was capable of scaling with more users on demand.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST or TJ) in Alexandria, Virginia, is anything but an ordinary high school. It offers technology laboratories in multiple study areas and is home to 1,800 students who are selected based on aptitude, academic achievement, and interest in the sciences. In 2007, U.S. News & World Report ranked TJHSST the number-one high school in the United States based on student performance on state tests, how well disadvantaged. With Sun Ray technology, the school reduced the cost per workstation by 75%.

The University of York

Sun Secure Global Desktop Solution has enabled the University secure access to server-based applications from a wide range of popular desktop PCs, providing student study bedrooms with centrally managed, reliable access to both routine applications and those needed for special research purposes.

Time Warner Cable

Time Warner Cable's New York City operations are a showcase for state-of-the-art call center facilities. To maintain its reputation for the utmost in customer service, Time Warner Cable has installed a completely new system comprised of Sun Ray 150 ultra-thin clients and Sun Enterprise workgroup servers.

University Hospital rechts der Isar

Distinguished German Hospital saves 50% in hardware costs and 95% in power consumption with Sun Ray Virtual Display Clients. The University Hospital rechts der Isar at Munich Technical University is dedicated to high quality healthcare, research and education. With 3,700 employees, the hospital has more than 31 separate clinics as well as 1,100 beds. Every year approximately 40,000 people benefit from in-patient care and 170,000 receive out-patient care.

University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System (UAB)

The UAB Health System manages the healthcare needs of Alabama's diverse population including inpatient and outpatient services, rural clinics, a research facility and a health plan with more than 65,000 members and 5,000 physicians. UAB deployed over 600 Sun Ray clients for patient information access and plans to add more than 3,000 over the two years. Its deployment of Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients, Sun Fire servers and Solaris OS helped aggregate patient information and deliver it across all points of care.

University of Oxford

Oxford has replaced hundreds of desktop PCs with Sun Ray systems. The deployment provides a quieter, cooler study environment. It saves 5,000 GPB (10,000 USD) in electricity costs and reduces administration costs for desktops by 96% annually.

Valparaiso University

To eliminate complex, costly and time-consuming administration of problematic PCs, Valpo is deploying more than 120 Sun Ray Virtual Display Clients across its campus – in labs, in the newly constructed 30,000-square-foot library facility, in its administrative offices and dormitories.

West Bay Semiconductor

In designing a forward-looking EDA development environment, West Bay leveraged Sun Microsystems innovative technologies. The heart of Sun's capabilities lay in three technologies: the Technical Compute Farm (TCF), Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients and Sun Grid Engine software.
