On February 15, 2008, Sun Microsystems, Inc. completed its acquisition of Vaau, Inc., a premier provider of Enterprise Role Management (ERM) and identity compliance solutions. This acquisition is expected to improve Sun's overall competitive position in the identity audit and compliance space by providing Sun with the opportunity to strengthen its foothold in the increasingly important category of Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC). With the acquisition of Vaau, Sun will be able to extend its capabilities to address more robust customer requirements including automation, simplification and business alignment. Vaau's RBACx solution, which is now called the Sun Java System Role Manager, combined with the provisioning and identity auditing capabilities of Sun's existing identity management portfolio powered by the Solaris 10 Operating System, will help enable organizations to streamline the provisioning process and significantly reduce the cost of auditing. "This acquisition further underscores Sun's leadership in the high growth identity audit and compliance categories, adding both a market-leading solution and proven implementation services to our portfolio."
- Jim McHugh, VP of Marketing, Software Infrastructure, Sun Microsystems
"The addition of our industry leading identity compliance and role management capabilities to Sun's current identity management portfolio will provide customers a comprehensive solution to address compliance and efficiency needs. We are truly excited about joining forces to better help our partners and customers implement the best solutions in the industry - covering the full spectrum of governance, risk and compliance."
- Sachin Nayyar, CEO & Founder, Vaau
