The Manchester Center's area of expertise is in commercial benchmarking. The Center provides a scalable dynamic data center, together with engineering resources with significant performance and tuning expertise, to mitigate risk for customers. Customers benchmark their applications, their databases, and their production environments with support from the Center. In 2005, in Manchester, Sun held more than 50 customer engagements to bring together best practices and technology expertise from Sun and its partners.
The Sun Solution Center in Manchester focuses on benchmarking for Sun customers. Sun customers at the center work with engineers in a dedicated facility.
Overview
The Sun Solution Center in Manchester is equipped with extensive inventories of systems, storage, and software. A dedicated Sun engineer with vast hardware, Solaris and software experience, and knowledge of all major databases, is assigned to every customer benchmark. Working in partnership with the customer, Sun engineers use an array of tuning tools to identify hardware, network, and application bottlenecks, and offer solutions to overcome them. In all Center engagements, Sun works with its customers to deliver the desired results.
