The Sun Infrastructure Solution for Infinite Mailbox provides more control over corporate intellectual property and business proprietary information, while enabling companies to meet regulatory compliance without legal penalty or bottom line expense. On-demand access, automatic backup, and fast, easy recovery of message data reduce complexity and increase user productivity. Automated archiving, simple installation, fast retrieval, and centralized administration reduce costs.

More E-mail to Manage. Less Budget.

Once considered a novelty, e-mail is now a mission-critical application for organizations throughout the world. As users increasingly rely on e-mail as their file management system, on-demand access to the message store is essential for productivity. Employees receive an average of 50 e-mails daily, and these messages contain valuable corporate intellectual property along with business proprietary information. The number and size of e-mails (including presentations and video attachments) is growing continuously, and there is high legal and competitive risk associated with forcing users to delete files or forward messages to private accounts.

As a result, organizations are investing in new server hardware, additional hard disk capacity, and CPU power to support the application requirements of ever-growing Lotus Domino databases. But with this method, the database backups alone are unmanageable--requiring too much time and money. Wouldn't it be more effective to store your Lotus Domino database information on less expensive media (magnetic tapes or reusable CD-ROMs)--while still providing users on-demand access to data and ensuring that files are automatically backed up and easily recovered?

Automated archiving, simple installation, fast retrieval, and centralized administration reduce costs.

Easy to Archive
Archiving with the Sun Infrastructure Solution for Infinite Mailbox is quick and easy. Users access and control the archiving function via either the Notes client or a Web browser, yet the process is transparent to users, who take no special action to archive a message. Archived e-mail documents are replaced with Domino Document Links, and the archived messages still appear to reside in the user's mail database, identified by a small icon. A pointer refers to the partition accessible to the user. Once retrieved, the file is back on disk. This helps your enterprise dramatically cut costs by reducing the need for mail server hardware and expensive daily backup media.

Simple to Administrate
Backup and administration processes typically require administrators to continually monitor and intervene when necessary. With the Sun Infrastructure Solution for Infinite Mailbox, virtually all processes are automatic:

    Mobile users are fully supported.
Archiving administration is centralized and efficient.
By implementing "soft quotas", administrators can limit the size of user mailboxes.
Improved mail server availability and performance due to reduced workloads.
Archive policy can be based on size and age of mail message.
Policies can support existing Domino groups or individual users for greater flexibility.

All functions fully support Lotus Domino clustering, regardless of the number of servers that require archiving.
