With the help of Sun Services, this ferry operator used the Server, Storage, and Services Virtualization Solution to take advantage of its virtualization and low-power benefits. Sun SPARC Enterprise servers, a Sun StorageTek storage system and tape library, and the Solaris 10 Operating System delivered the results.
Clifford Chance is deploying its critical business applications on high-performance servers with Sun's multi-threaded processors. It is also using the servers' virtualization technology and scalability to consolidate datacenters.
Sun Professional Services delivered a Server Virtualization and Services Solution that helped Luxembourg Bank cut IT costs and bring products to market faster. This high-performance infrastructure is based on Sun SPARC Enterprise servers and the Solaris 10 Operating System.
To improve performance while reducing energy and space requirements, Planet-Work deployed a completely new platform based on Sun hardware and virtualization software. The system stack is structured around energy-efficient X4170 and X2200 M2 servers and underpinned by a Sun Unified Storage System, a combination of solid state and traditional disk storage which creates a hybrid storage pool.
StubHub upgraded a mission-critical, online transaction processing
(OLTP) database from Oracle 9i Real Application Clusters (RAC) to
Oracle 10g RAC. To take advantage of high scalability and
mainframe-class performance, StubHub also moved the database from a
32-bit platform to a 64-bit platform with Sun SPARC Enterprise M5000
servers running the Solaris 10 Operating System.
This university used the Storage Virtualization Solution to increase their throughput and storage capacity. They deployed a Sun StorageTek 9990V System as the centerpiece of a high-performance SAN. They also replaced 12 Dell machines with three Sun Fire Servers and refreshed ten legacy Sun machines with faster, more-efficient Sun SPARC Enterprise T5220 servers.
VANOC implemented a variety of Sun SPARC Enterprise and Sun Fire x64
servers and Sun StorageTek storage products for mission-critical IT
systems that will directly affect how the world experiences the 2010
Winter Games. These servers support tasks ranging from accreditation of
attendees and managing day-to-day business operations to real-time
distribution of scores and other information to an audience of billions.
Using the Server Virtualization Solution, Sun Professional Services was able to help this leading publisher in the Netherlands reduce their servers count by 93%. Wegener consolidated and virtualized a new failover datacenter using Sun SPARC Enterprise Servers running the Solaris 10 Operating System and Solaris 8 Containers.
