The Sun StorageTek Availability Suite software license is a capacity-based license. A Right-to-Use (RTU) capacity license is issued in increments of 1TB, 5TB, and 50TB of on-line master storage at the time the license is purchased. The customer is required to obtain and pay for as many licenses as there is on-line master storage capacity in the environment. (A license is not required for replicated data, such as shadow images or remote copies, or on a per instance basis, such as per server running the software.) A license is only required for the total amount of master data in terabytes.
