Enforces record-retention policies at the storage level
With StorageTek Compliance Archiving software, disks implement write-once read-many (WORM) files that are nonrewritable and nonerasable. Robust security features such as audit logs, user authentication, and access controls, combine to help safeguard the integrity of your vital digital information.

Per-file retention periods
A file’s retention period specifies how long the file must be preserved, Retention periods may be extended but not decreased. A new retention period may be assigned to a file whose previous retention period has exprired.
Per-file WORM protection
Fixed-content files are protected for the duration of the assigned retention period. WORM files cannot be modified, regardless of the identity or privileges of the user or client attempting the operation. In addition, the critical metadata attributes cannot be changed. You can also set up areas where you can store information that is not ready to be WORM-protected.

Administrative security controls and secure clock
StorageTek Compliance Archiving software prevents using administrative functions to circumvent the security guarantees made by WORM files and retention periods. A secure clock helps prevent changes to the externally visible clock from affecting retention periods.
Audit system captures attempts to alter files
StorageTek Compliance Archiving software’s audit system captures and preserves retention-related actions, including operations that create or delete WORM files and operations that set or extend retention periods or delete WORM files.
Data mirroring helps ensure business continuity and disaster recovery
When used in conjunction with the Sun StorageTek 5320 NAS Appliance, StorageTek Compliance Archiving software remotely mirrors files to the appliance and provides for dual copies of all WORM files on nonrewritable, nonerasable media.
