Which Version of CAM Do I Need?
If you don't have CAM already, always start with the latest version.
Do I Need to Upgrade?
Sun recommends all customers not using version 6.4.1 or
later upgrade to version 6.5:
- Sun StorageTek 2510, 2530, 2540, 6130, 6140 and 6540 and StorageTek
FLX240, FLX280 and FLX380 Arrays require CAM 6.4.1 or later because Sun
is recommending that all customers using array firmware at 7.x or later
upgrade to the latest array firmware, which is now supported with v6.5
as well.
- CAM 6.5 adds important new features and functions for Sun Storage
J4200, J4400, J4500, and Sun Blade 6000 Storage Module users, as well
as other important updates.
NOTES
- IMPORTANT: Upgrading Sun 6000-class systems to CAM 6.4.1 or later may
require first running the Upgrade Utility The utility updates version 6.x controller firmware to version 7.50 (or
higher).
If you are planning on upgrading to the new features available in
firmware versions 7.50 and later, first download and use this utility.
Alternatively, you can upgrade to firmware version 6.60.22 using CAM
(which
includes bug fixes but no new features), then use CAM 6.5.
- IMPORTANT: If you plan to upgrade Sun 2500-class systems to firmware
version 7.35 or later, you must first run Firmware Upgrade Utility 07.35.xx.xx .
- For the Sun Storage J4200, J4000, J4500 and the Sun Blade 6000 Storage
Module:
When it is desired to centralize the management of multiple arrays
which may be connected to multiple direct attached hosts, download the
entire CAM installation kit and during the installation choose the
"in-band proxy agent only" option for any hosts which are not the
designated to be the centralized CAM management station. The
centralized CAM management station will require the "full" distribution
to be installed.
